Color of the Year

In 2010, I created quite a few topsy turvy cakes that featured the colors of turquoise, black, and silver.  This Sweet 17 cake (on left) featured 2 ruffled tiers and zebra print.
The cake with the record on top is a retro style cake for a lovely lady who grew up in the 50's and 60"s.  Unforgettable was a top hit the year of her birth and so I piped "Unforgettable Jane" on the sugary lp.

I just discovered this week that turquoise was the Pantone 2010 Color of  Year!  That helps to explain my clients' wishes for turquoise cakes last year.
I subconsciously caught the love bug for turquoise (and it's calmer cousin, aqua).  My Christmas treats all featured aqua instead of traditional forest green; I love this color combination of aqua and red.

Would you like to know the Pantone Color for 2011?
The color is called Honeysuckle;  "A dynamic reddish pink, Honeysuckle is encouraging and uplifting. It elevates our psyche beyond escape, instilling the confidence, courage and spirit to meet the exhaustive challenges that have become part of everyday life."  Gee whiz; I'll bet they could use a little Honeysuckle in Egypt right about now.

So, here's my Valentine's gift to you all; a sweet composition including the color of the year. I hope that it elevates your psyche!  Let me know if you'll be adding some Honeysuckle Pink to your life in 2011... I'm seeing it already on newmakers; Oprah and Michelle Obama were wearing Honeysuckle Pink dresses when photographed together this week.

  Best wishes, Claudia
