It's amazing what you find in your home when you have a few days off. Here is a photo snapped by my husband showing Martha Stewart and me, taken in Nashville, Tn. The year was probably 1985; 25 years ago, while we were attending the National Caterer's Roundtable. Martha, an up and coming caterer, was the keynote speaker. Yes, she is tall! I'm 5'7" and she clearly towers over me!
I remember her speech very well...in which she described her no-nonsense perfectionism. For example, she showed photos of her home at the time: Turkey Hill. Every Christmas, she gave her sister the task of lighting several thousand luminarias on the winding, snowy drive to Martha's home. It was a glowing, beautiful sight that made me appreciate my own (less demanding) sisters!
